Revelation 3:19 says, “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” Today we live in a society that accepts apathy. There is no need to be a hard worker, just work enough to get by. Apathy is a lack of interest, enthusiasm, or concern. Verse 16 describes our society well, “So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.” God is not happy with the Laodicean church. As a result he rebukes and chastens them for their apathy. We learned yesterday that God will do the same to us. However, verse 19 exhorts us to be zealous. 1. We are to be zealous against sin. Zealous means to have great energy or enthusiasm in pursuit of a cause or an objective. We should pursue after righteousness and resist the temptation of the devil. 2. We should also be zealous toward service. As Christians we have been commanded to go and tell others. Are you apathetic toward the command that God has given you? We should all be found zealous toward the service that God has for us! Be Zealous and Repent By Pastor David Rasnake
